Each date gets a score: Yes counts 1, Maybe half, and No counts against, so a date nearly everyone can make beats one that splits the group. How is the best date picked?

Every answer is worth points. A Yes counts 1, a Maybe half, and a No takes half a point away. The points add up for each date, and the highest total leads. So a date nearly everyone can make beats one that splits the group.

When two dates tie, the one fewer people said No to goes first. You can change what each answer is worth, from -10 to 10, and everyone watching sees the new order straight away.

The group chat

How do you pick a date in a group chat?

Most plans start in a group chat and stall there: who’s away, which weekend, can we do June. Send one Date Poll link instead. Everyone answers each date once, and the chat can get back to the fun part.

WhatsApp and iMessage polls are fine for two or three choices. They don’t weigh a Maybe, and Messages polls only work in iMessage chats. For a weekend or a trip, a link with Yes, Maybe or No per date settles it faster.

Is Doodle still free?

Yes, with limits. Doodle’s free plan lists one group poll, allows 10 time slots in it and shows ads. You need a Doodle account to finish making a poll, and people answering give a name and an email. Doodle Pro is $15 a month or $132 a year.

What’s the best free Doodle alternative?

If free matters most, Rallly and Crab Fit are free and open source. Rallly’s free polls are deleted once every date has passed and nothing has happened for 30 days. Crab Fit is built around hours in a day. Date Poll isn’t free for the person who makes the poll, but everyone they ask answers free, and it comes with every other implements tool.

Is Date Poll free?

No. It comes with implements, $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year for every tool. The first 100 members get their first 3 months free. Everyone you send a poll to answers free, without an account.

Do people need an account or an app to answer?

No. They open the link, tap their name and answer each date. If you allow it, they can add their own name.

How does Date Poll pick the best date?

Each answer is worth points: Yes 1, Maybe 0.5, No -0.5. The points add up for each date and the highest total leads. A tie goes to the date with fewer No answers. You can change the points.

Can a whole weekend be one choice?

Yes. Give a first and last day, like Friday to Sunday, or a whole week. People answer once for the whole range.

Can people change their answers?

Yes, from the same link, until you close the poll. You can also set an answer for someone who tells you in person.

Is it good for meeting times?

Not really. Date Poll picks days and date ranges, not hours. For a meeting time, a time-slot tool like Doodle or When2meet fits better.

What happens when I pick a date?

Everyone with the link sees it. Close the poll to stop late changes, and start a trip in Trip Split with the dates and the people who said Yes or Maybe.

Can I add Date Poll to my home screen?

Yes. On iPhone, open Share in Safari and tap Add to Home Screen. On Android, tap Install app, or Add to home screen in Chrome’s menu.

Does it work offline?

No. It needs a connection to collect answers and keep the ranking up to date.

What happens to my polls if I cancel?

Date Poll keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for. After that your polls stay on your account to view and export, and they stop taking answers. They’re there if you come back.
